主要研究方向：

        1. 中药资源及资源化学研究与开发

        中药资源化学是揭示自然资源中对人类健康及其相关领域具有应用价值或潜在价值的资源性化学成分性质、分布、积累与消长规律，并通过适宜技术集成以实现资源的合理生产与科学利用的综合性与应用性特色突出的基础学科。

        研究方向：（1）基于药用生物的生长发育过程研究资源生物体化学成分的种类与分布、合成途径、积累动态与生理生态的关系及其调控机制；（2）基于药材生产与加工过程研究资源性成分的生物转化、化学转化及其变化规律；（3）基于资源开发与综合利用角度研究药用资源中各类物质的可利用价值及其资源化过程；（4）基于资源产业化过程研究促进资源性化学成分利用效率的有效提升。

        2. 方药功效物质基础与配伍规律研究

        通过四物汤类方用于妇科血瘀证原发性痛经的示范性研究，提出和构建了基于药味－药对－基本方－类方的方剂方药系统衍化与关联结构研究模式，形成了具有特色的类方研究体系。作为国家“973”计划项目首席科学家，通过 “基于‘十八反’的中药配伍禁忌理论基础研究”项目实施，围绕我国中药配伍禁忌的理论创新、研究技术体系和适宜模式构建，以揭示中药配伍禁忌机制，建立中药配伍禁忌预警系统，为临床安全用药提供指南。
